Adam was asked to comment on the consequences of tokophobia. The highlights are here:

They may end a relationship with a partner that wants children, or prefer to have shorter term or casual relationships, sabotaging them when they get too serious as a coping mechanism. Adam explains ‘from a practical perspective you may not know someone you know has a fear of pregnancy but their fear can lead them to be very concerned about contraception, regularly take pregnancy tests and are more likely to take emergency contraception’. Adam also suggests that spending time around pregnant women can be of some benefit to help desensitise feelings of anxiety, and that psychological approaches such as CBT, hypnotherapy and NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) are also helpful. He says that one or two sessions of hypnotherapy and NLP can affect change, but that many women that don’t have tokophobia will ‘still have some anxiety about being pregnant, which is perfectly normal’.
